Infant/Toddler & Adult attachment brochu

Infant/Toddler & Adult Attachment Brochure | November 2019

This brochure was created to inform parents about the importance of having a secure relationship with their child.

Challenges:

1. A challenge I faced was trying to source out for relevant and credible sources of information to be used in the brochure.

2. Another challenge I faced was trying to fit all the information that I found in the brochure.

How I overcame it:

I persevered in looking for credible sources and made sure it was all dated not more than 10 years ago.

Following that, I used images and bullet points instead of sentences to make the information easy to read and less wordy.

Result:

I completed my brochure in time with all the necessary credible information readers could trust and I managed to fit all the necessary information needed into the brochure.

What I learned:

I learned and was able to apply important research skills such as sieving through and looking for credible and relevant information that is needed. I also learned that there's more than one way to solve an issue, in my case, fitting all needed information into a 2-paged brochure.

Bones Art Newsletter | October 2019

This is a 3-page newsletter that was created for preschool teachers to show the successes of an art lesson that I implemented and what could be improved on.

Challenges:

A challenge I faced was reflecting on my own lesson. Although I was able to reflect and pinpoint certain areas that could be improved on, I felt that I still needed external feedback.

How I overcame it:

I decided to ask my host teacher and even asked for some feedback from the children. I also looked back at my lesson plan materials and the photo documentations of me teaching and critiqued how I carried out my lesson.

Result:

I was able to gather multiple useful feedback that I could improve on in the future.

What I learned:

I learned that when doing reflections, it is good to ask for other's feedback so that I can improve on myself in different areas that I had not known or have overlooked.

Monthly Music Newsletter | June 2019

This newsletter was created to inform parents about the changes in the set-up of a music learning centre and why the change will be beneficial to children. The newsletter also included an online platform that parents can join to stay updated on their children's musical journey and activities.

Challenges:

I found it hard to search for pre-existing photos of a music learning centre that suited and contained all the necessary and age-appropriate materials that should be present in the environment set-up.

How I overcame it:

I decide to choose the best environment possible and added in and photoshopped extra materials into the photo to enhance and better improve the environment set-up.

Result:

The photo of the environment set-up turned out well and I was able to share about a more conducive and effective music learning centre environment in the brochure.

What I learned:

I learned not to stay fixed to what limited resources I have, opening up my options to use photoshop to adjust the photo of the music learning centre environment to what I would deem as a good one.

Mathematics Tool Kit -
"Have you seen my dragon?" By Steve Light | June 2019

This tool kit teaches the concept of matching and is for ages 5 to 6 years old.

Challenges:

One challenge I faced was an uncooperative group member. When the other team members and I discussed about the different possible games we could use and create, this group member would stay silent and occasionally pick up her phone to browse through her social media account. Lastly, when we started writing the write-up for the rationale behind the book choice and the activities used, the group member did not share her views.

How I overcame it:

I first asked her if everything was okay and whether something was affecting her. In which, she told me that she was doing fine. Thus, I tried to find out if there were other factors that hindered her contribution levels in the group project. I then realised that because all the other team members were very vocal, she was unable to share her own views and felt left out. Thus, as a group leader, I allocated specific work for everyone to do.

Result:

Everyone did their part and we managed to complete the project on time.

What I learned:

I learned that we should always try to understand the situation of why someone may be acting a certain way before jumping to conclusions. I also learned that as a group leader, it is important to ensure that everyone in the group feels included.

CHLT tool kit story cards

English Tool Kit -
"This is not my hat" By Jon Klassen | June 2019

This tool kit teaches the concept of honesty and is for ages 4 to 5 years old. It includes story cards that children can rearrange after reading the book and share their version of 'This is not my hat".

Challenges:

As it was coming to the end of the school semester, assignments were piling up and I was the only one that had all the materials needed to decorate the tool kit. This made meeting together and doing the group project together difficult.

How I overcame it:

I decorated the box on my own and I asked my group members to work more on the writing aspect of the assignment, in which I would join them in completing the write-up after I was done with the toolkit design.

Result:

Everyone felt that it was a fair split of work and we managed to complete the tool kit project on time.

What I learned:

Working in a team can be very useful and can provide greater productivity in completing certain work.

Hi! Club Instructors' Camp | April 2019

This is an introduction video to help campers understand the storyline of the camp. The camp allows us to look out for potential instructors to teach sign language to the other members of the club.

Challenges:

I was tasked to do up the introduction video in 4 days. I had to draw, put the video together as well as narrate the video. Although I had help with the scriptwriting, I had never drawn under such pressure.

How I overcame it:

To better manage my time, I wrote out a plan to complete the script by the 1st day, followed by 2 days of drawing and the last day for narration, editing and adding subtitles. As I knew I would not be able to complete the video in 4 days alone, I asked my friends to help me with the scriptwriting and some of the drawings.

Result:

I managed to complete the video in a span of 4 days and the other planning team members were in awe of the work produced.

What I learned:

I learned how to plan and manage my time well. I also learned that it is okay to ask for help at times.
