Hearing Impairment Brochure | May 2019

This brochure is for parents with hearing impaired children to understand the different provisions made to the child's direct learning environment in a preschool, to accommodate their child's needs.

Challenges:

During this time, when I was doing up this brochure, I was also working on other projects. I felt overwhelmed by how much things I had to complete.

How I overcame it:

I came up with a timetable and a list of things that had to be done for this brochure assignment. I also made use of my long travelling time back home from school each day to research on what information I could use and place inside the brochure

Result:

I managed to complete the brochure and all the other projects on time and managed to attain good results for this brochure assignment.

What I learned:

I learned that there are many ways to work smart and to be time-efficient, making use of technology, in this case, using my phone to research and access information online to find credible information for the content of the brochure.

Parental Involvement Infographic | May 2019

An infographic to share with new teachers the importance of parental involvement in a preschooler's life as well as the strategies teachers can use to encourage and promote parental involvement in the class.

Challenges:

I faced technical challenges working on a specific online application that would allow me to create an infographic. The app would close on me and the text boxes would disappear.

How I overcame it:

I always made sure to save my work every 5 minutes and made sure I stayed calm, not getting frustrated with the application.

Result:

I completed the infographic and was able to finish it on time.

What I learned:

I learned how to be patient and how important it is to start and complete my work early in order to avoid unwanted delays.

English Lap book -
"They say blue" By Jillian Tamaki | January 2019

This lap book teaches children aged 5 to 6 years old about matching descriptions, spelling, writing skills and rhyming words. The book "They say blue" was chosen as children will be able to easily relate to the book as it centres around a girl's life. The book also contains illustration cues that help children better understand the story and the words that are written. The book also contains sight words that are appropriate for children aged 5 to 6 years old.

Challenges :

As the storyline of the book we chose was rather abstract, we had trouble coming up with age-appropriate activities to place in the lap book.

How I overcame it:

My group and I had to constantly refer back to what we had learned so far and applied it when coming up with age-appropriate activities to place in the lap book.

Result:

The lecturers marking the outcome of lap book commented that the activities were interesting and were age-appropriate.

What I learned:

It is always good to apply what we have learned into any work that we do. Only then will we be able to fully understand the theories that we have learned.

Preschool Concert Poster | December 2018

This poster is to inform parents about an upcoming preschool concert.

Challenges:

I was unsure of the appropriate design and theme of the concert. The template designs online were also plain and unenticing.

How I overcame it:

I made sure I did my research on possible preschool concert themes and the details that a normal poster should entail. I also moved away from using the online templates and personally drew up the design.

Result:

I completed the poster with the appropriate details meant to be put in. The lecturer in-charge also commented that she really liked my poster.

What I learned:

I learned to think out of the box and that we do not always have to follow a conventional way of doing things.
